How to manage your time to learn French?

Do you feel busy?
Do you struggle managing your time to learn French?

Time-management is an essential part in your French learning journey.

In this blog post, you will discover four steps to manage your time and make sure you quickly reach your French goals.

1- SET A DEADLINE

What are the benefits of setting a deadline?

  • You are committed to the process: you have an appointment with your goal achievement
  • You are focused: your brain starts organizing the steps you need to take.
  • You are motivated: you start thinking about the results and how good you will feel when you achieve your French goal.

What is your deadline?

When would you like to reach this goal?

When could you achieve this goal?

Your French coach advice: allow yourself the necessary time to reach your goal: set a feasible and motivating deadline and define a specific date (month and day).

2- ESTIMATE THE NUMBER AND FREQUENCY OF THE SESSIONS

Get a clear overview of your planning

How many hours do you need to achieve this?

What about the frequency?  (once per week? twice per week?…)

3- FIND THE BEST TIME TO LEARN french

Now that you have a clear timeline, you can start thinking about the perfect time slot for your French sessions.

I would like to recommend that you consider concentration and motivation.

-Concentration-

Thinking about concentration will help you choose the time when you will be able to learn efficiently.

What is the day and time when you are able to concentrate the best on your French?

When am I relaxed and in great shape to work on my French

(week? weekend? time of the day)?

What is the ideal time for my brain to concentrate on French?

If you find what is your perfect time and you respect it, you will save plenty of time. Your brain will be in the best condition to learn efficiently.

-Motivation-

It’s important to also choose a motivating time to learn French.

Motivation is key in the learning process: when you are motivated… your learn better!

When do I feel motivated to work on my French?

4- FIT YOUR IDEAL TIMING IN YOUR AGENDA

Congrats!

You have set a deadline and have a clear idea of your ideal time slots to work on your French goals… now it’s time to find a way to adapt this ideal timing to your current planning!

You may have to make some adjustment to make it work:

How can I integrate this timeframe in my agenda?

What adjustment can I do to integrate this timeframe in current planning?
